Pauwelstraat vanaf de hoek Houtmarkt-Oude Stadsgracht:

Als je vanaf het Mariënburg de Houtmarkt inliep en bij de eerstvolgende kruising naar links keek, had je het volgende uitzicht op de Pauwelstraat. Van de statige herenhuizen aan de linkerzijde zijn alleen nog enkele buitenmuren blijven staan. Een tweetal huizen aan de rechterzijde heeft het bombardement wel overleefd. Iets verderop buigt de Pauwelstraat af naar de kruising met de Broerstraat.

If you had walked from the Mariënburg into the Houtmarkt and looked to your left at the next intersection, you would have had this view of the Pauwelstraat. Of the stately mansions on the left only some of the outer walls remain upright. Two houses on the right did survive the bombardment. A bit further on, the Pauwelstraat bears off towards the intersection with the crossing with the Broerstraat.
