De Sint-Stevenskerk na het bombardement:

Een blik vanaf hetzelfde punt, maar met een opvallend verschil. De uit 1605 daterende torenspits van de Sint-Stevenskerk is door drukgolven - veroorzaakt door de vele explosies in de directe omgeving - ingestort en bovenop de omliggende bebouwing terechtgekomen. Een aantal mensen, dat op de toren op wacht stond, kwam hierbij om het leven.
De toren werd tussen 1949 en 1953 hersteld onder leiding van A.W. Jansz. De Stevenskerk is overigens het enige gebouw op deze foto dat nu nog bestaat: de overige huizen zijn vanaf de jaren '50 gesloopt.

A view from the same angle, but with a striking difference. The tower steeple of the church of St. Steven, dating from 1605, has collapsed due to waves of pressure - caused by the many explosions in the immediate surroundings - and has landed on top of the surrounding buildings. A number of people who were on guard on the tower lost their lives. 
The tower was reconstructed between 1949 and 1953, under the supervision of A.W. Jansz. For that matter, the church of St. Steven is the only building on this photograph which still exists: all the other houses have been demolished since the 1950s.
