Sint-Franciscuskerk in puin:

Dit was alles wat overbleef van de in 1882 gebouwde kerk van de Franciscanen. De vrij sobere, maar toch indrukwekkende kerk was ontworpen door C. van Dijk en lag tussen de Doddendaal (rechts op de ansicht) en Achter Valburg ingeklemd. In tegenstelling tot de kerk zijn de straatnamen gebleven, hoewel de straten zelf bij de wederopbouw zijn verlegd. Op de precieze plaats waar de kerk stond, op en rond het pleintje tussen de huidige Doddendaal en Kroonstraat, herinnert bijna niets meer aan het vroegere bestaan ervan.

This is all that remained of the church of the Franciscans, built in 1882. The quite sober, but still impressive church was designed by C. van Dijk and was located in between the Doddendaal (to the right of the picture) and Achter Valburg. The street names still exist, while the church does not, although the streets themselves have been moved during the reconstruction. At the exact site of the church, on and around the small square between the present-day Doddendaal and the Kroonstraat, hardly anything commemorates the former existence of it.
