Verwoeste binnenstad:

Nog een blik op de verwoeste binnenstad, nu vanuit de Doddendaal richting het zuidoosten. Achter de ruïnes en de hopen steen is de torenloze Canisiuskerk aan de Molenstraat te zien. Het gebouw rechts op de voorgrond overleefde de oorlog, maar moest bij de wederopbouw het veld ruimen. Waar op de ansicht nog muren van gebouwen te zien zijn, werd eind jaren '40 het Centrumplein - Plein 1944 - aangelegd.

Ruined inner city:

Another view of the ruined inner city, this time from the Doddendaal in the direction of the south east. Behind the ruins and piles of brick, the St. Canisius Church, without tower, in the Molenstraat can be seen. The building at the front right survived the war, but had to be demolished in the reconstruction. Where this postcard still shows walls of buildings, the centre square - 'Plein 1944' - was constructed in the end of the 1940s.
