Binnenstad in puin: 

Op dinsdag 22 februari 1944 wordt een groot deel van de binnenstad compleet verwoest. Op deze ansichtkaart - genomen in noordoostelijke richting - is links de verwoeste Sint-Augustinuskerk te zien, rechts staat de toren van de nog redelijk gespaard gebleven Sint-Dominicuskerk aan de Broerstraat. De overeind gebleven constructie die tussen de twee kerken is te zien, is van de uitgebrande Vroom en Dreesmann aan de Grote Markt.

Inner city in ruins:

On Tuesday February 22, 1944, a large part of the inner city is completely destroyed. On this picture postcard - taken in north-eastern direction - the devastated St. Augustinus Church can be seen on the left, to the right is the tower of the reasonably spared St. Dominicus Church in the Broerstraat. The still standing building in between these two churches is the department store 'Vroom & Dreesmann' on the Grote Markt, which was completely burnt out.
